cool indie game, had to have been influenced by House of Leaves

kangaroo-beer:

it’s based on http://www.scp-wiki.net/
which is definitely inspired by house of leaves!

inspired by house of leaves, in that it’s a complete waste of time

the scariest game ever made

(if you have a deadly fear of staircases)

honestly this is an incredibly cool idea. yes, it’s the same thing forever, but that’s the point. it uses procedural generation to stop the game at a random floor, so the outcome is potentially different and jarring for each person playing it that expects it at floor 70, 150, etc. the SCPs are some of my favorite things ever and this is a great start. does it play well as a game? no, of course not, but it’s a fun, if plodding and torturous, thrill ride :]

also house of leaves is pretty neat, as is ergodic literature in general so whatevs

Looked up House Of Leaves and IMMEDIATELY the first thing I think of is Grave Encounters or at least The Navidson Record part of it. Fuck buildings that change shape and shit haha. The premise of this stuff definitely makes for a good game concept. Creepy dark buildings that change shape on you and infinitely trap you to just search for freaky shit in them as they randomly change around you and disorient you. If I knew a single thing about making games I’d be sorely tempted to make a game loosely based on this stuff with a somewhat Amnesia-esque feel too as far as the sanity stuff goes. Probably wouldn’t make you a 100% defenseless stupid bitch like Daniel though. I guess it adds to the scare factor but man it doesn’t make sense (not that anything needs to in a survival horror game) that you can’t pick up something and attack with it. :V

Hi hello, I’m rambling a shit ton. I really want to make a survival horror game now. Working on the soundtrack alone would be goddamn fun as hell, I had a blast working on Perdition’s Wake.
